It often seems that within the digital marketing world, people are constantly being pressured into saying yes for things. Whether its a product, service, or even a particular type of project for your work, don’t feel as if you always need to say yes. In terms of branding, saying yes to everything that comes across your desk not only makes you come off as someone who is trying to do it all, but it also makes you appear as not being an expert. As we always say, you can’t be everything to everyone.
Here at Trinity Web Media, we position ourselves as WordPress experts, so if we get offered a project built with Drupal, we are going to say no. We’d advise any that are being provided projects outside of their expertise to say no. This way you can position your value and let your clients know how you genuinely differentiate yourself from the rest of the industry.

Hey everyone thanks for checking out another bonus episode of the New Marketing Show catching us on Instagram TV. We appreciate you and you can get more content like this at Trinity web media.com/Apple-podcasts. So I want to talk today about positioning value, saying yes and saying no.
So, you know, a lot of times in the marketing space and business development space and different, you know, web development, everybody, you’re always so tempted to say yes to everything that comes across your desk, when actually what happens is, when you start saying, No, you position your company as more of an expert in a certain area. Now, I’ve been totally entrenched in David Baker’s book, the business of expertise.
And this point is really, really striking a chord with me, the more you say no to business, the more you are an expert in the areas where you are comfortable in saying yes, so for Trinity web media, we are experts in WordPress development, we’re experts in digital marketing, social media management, content marketing, there are things that we do not spaces that we do not play it.
Now, we do play in the space of like SEO, and content and conversion optimization, because that pertains to WordPress are our WordPress expertise. Now, the site was built in something other than WordPress, we would say no to it, because it falls out of our expertise.
You know, the more you say no, the more it frees you up to say yes. But it also frees you up to say yes, at the proper price point for where your business can really thrive, survive and grow. So this is not a unique concept. But it’s a concept that’s hard as an entrepreneur, to really get used to. Because a lot of times, you want to say yes to whatever. So I think the balance is saying yes, when it makes sense to your business, regardless of banks need your bank statement, your bank balance. So that’s always been the hard time you have to say yes. When it makes sense, and say no, no matter what the bank balances.
So that’s the kind of the fine line that we all, you know, as small business owners and digital marketers that we kind of walk and we, you know, that’s the fine line that we strive to kind of define and make better for our businesses. So say no more than you say yes. And you’ll be able to position yourself with a greater expertise, and also charge accordingly. So hey, thanks for watching.
