Keep Your Ears Open & Your Circle Small

September 23, 2019 by Nate Baldwin

Keep Your Ears Open & Your Circle Small

When you surround yourself with a digital marketing team that you know you can rely on, advice from third parties becomes less necessary. No matter which vertical you are in, there will always be people in your ear. “You should do it this way” or “you need to try this new shiny object” are often the lines that you hear most.

The bottom line is, you don’t need to take everyone’s opinion into account. Sure, it’s essential to stay up on all the new trends. But, it is decidedly more important to surround yourself with a reliable team. This way, you can be steered in the right direction without getting too caught up in the details.

Stay familiar with whats going on in your industry but most importantly keep your circle small. As they say, too many chefs spoil the broth.

Hello, welcome to another bonus episode of the new market show, catch us on Instagram TV, YouTube wherever you getting this content and definitely appreciate you and for more content like this, you can get at Trinitywebmedia.com/Apple-podcast. So, you know, I’ve been thinking a lot about business owners and marketing and how the two play together. So if you’re a business owner and you’re a brand manager, and you’re not necessarily a professional marketer, here’s some advice that I really want to give out to you. My advice to you would be keep your ears open, but keep your circles small, ears open circle small. Now, what does that mean? So, what that really means is keep your ears open to what other people are doing in your market.

Keep your ears open to what other people are doing in your industry, your vertical, what other people are having success with. Keep your ears open when you’re reading like maybe tech blogs or watching new shows or anything like that. But, have a small circle trusted professionals around you, we’re going to be able to steer you in the right direction when it comes to implementing the things that you hear about. So often we hear different business owners getting, you know, a little bit of information from here a little bit of information from their little bit of information from all over the place.

Then what happens is, they start to talk to everybody about it. And then they either don’t know what to do they get conflicting stories, they you know, from people who are aren’t personally familiar with the brand or personally familiar with exactly the products and maybe their community. And what happens then is either go down the wrong route, or you get so overwhelmed that you don’t do anything and not doing anything. Sometimes it’s a bad thing. Sometimes it’s not such a bad thing. So what I would, again, the key message here is keep your ears open, keep your circle small. Go to the trusted professionals that you have at your disposal and your valued partners to get the insight on how this would work for your business.

Not everything new & shiny will work for every single business out there. You know, some things work really well. Some things will not work at all. So keep your ears open & keep your circle small. Hey, thanks for watching. Again, for more content like this. You can catch us on Instagram TV, YouTube, our blog and also on our podcast, The New Marketing Show. Talk to you soon.
