How Do Websites Work? 3 Things to Know

When it comes to exactly what goes on behind the scenes of web development, there are three major components you should be aware of. As simple as some of these concepts may be, it’s important to understand each aspect a much as the next. For those who are a little less tech-savvy, this is the perfect Trinity Web Minute for you!

So, how exactly does a website work? First things first, let’s begin with your domain. This is your purchased URL that needs to be renewed every year. Domains are purchased from a domain registrar such as GoDaddy or NameCheap. Next up, you need reliable web hosting. Web hosts essentially host all of your files, your database, and everything that comes along with your site.

Last but not least is the designed final site. Depending on the platform in which you develop your custom site, you then take your web files and upload them to your web host.

Hey everyone, thanks for checking out another bonus episode of the New Marketing Show, catch us on YouTube, Instagram TV, our website at Trinitywebmedia.com. all that great stuff. Today I want to talk to you about how a website works.

So lately, we’ve been having a cut some confusion with some of our clients that are a little less technically savvy. I thought I’d make a video about exactly how website works and three components that you need. First thing you need is a domain, that would be your website, name.com dotnet.biz.tv, any of that stuff.

Typically, you purchase those for about $9 to $20, unless they’re super premium domains. And that cost is for a year. So you would be you would get acme.com. And you’d pay your registration fee for 12 months. And you would own it for 12 months, of course, you would be able to renew that over time.

You buy this from a domain registrar such as name cheap GoDaddy, there’s a million of them out there, but Namecheap is who we use. GoDaddy is another popular one. The second thing that you need is web hosting. A web host is going to host all of your files, which is the website and the database, which everything that makes up the website, which is the third component. So one, you need a domain name.

Two, you need a web host. Three, you need a design site design site, what will happen is if you use WordPress or any, any web builder, you build a custom, you’ll take all of those web files that are written in proper code, along with your database that will be uploaded to your web host.

So that whenever anybody types in the domain, when it’s set up correctly, the domain will forward and it will look on the web for a specific address, which will then render the site on screen.

Typically, how it works is, you go ahead and you set your domain with, you know, the domain name servers, or the a record from the IP address. And you get that from your web host. So the domain, when somebody hits the domain in a browser, it then relays it and says, I should go to this web host to find these files.

So that’s how it works real simply, the three things you need. Again, just recap a domain, you need a web host, and you need a design site, and all the files and databases associated with that. hope this clears up any confusion.
