The Digital Marketing & WordPress Development Experts

Small Business Marketing: Adopting a Blue Ocean Approach

Small business marketing is no different from marketing business of a larger size. All digital marketing strategy and web development need to scale in one way or another based on the size of the company and the budgetary constraints.

Well, there is one difference, and it has nothing to do with the budget, size of business or anything like that — all small companies want to copy one another. If Joe’s Cafe is successful at doing XYZ, then you can bet that Bill’s Luncheon will copy what they are doing and attempt to execute the same marketing plan. Smart marketers call this approach living in the Red Ocean — a place where there is tons of competition, and no one can fundamentally tell Joe and Bill apart.

Trinity Web Media encourages all our clients to express their uniqueness, by swimming in the Blue Ocean and disregarding the Red Ocean.

Blue Ocean Marketing

WHAT IS BLUE OCEAN STRATEGY?

Made popular by W. Chan Kim & Renée Mauborgne in their classic book, Blue Ocean Strategy coined the terms ’red ocean’ and ‘blue ocean’ to describe the market universe. The blue ocean describes the disruption of industry and empowerment by uniqueness, and the red ocean is the opposite, swimming with the sharks who draw blood and feed on the competition.

Small Business Marketing & The Blue Ocean Approach

Why launch a digital marketing strategy, social media plan, or web development that mimics other people, your competition, and plays into their strengths. I do not understand why business owners are content with doing what others do, and achieving mediocre results at best.

In the upcoming weeks, The Trinity Web Media digital marketing and WordPress team will discuss the Red Ocean marketing approaches that small business take and give you Blue Ocean alternatives that make sense and achieve results. (It’s all about results.)

This is going to be fun…

What our clients say…

Jay Baer

If you need to take your web/digital program to the next level, these are the guys to see. Fast, honest, innovative and totally on top of it. Highly recommended! • Jay Baer – NY Times Best-selling Author, Founder/President – Convince and Convert

What our clients say…

While I’ve known Greg for years from our time together in the marketing scene, I’ve only recently had the chance to work with Trinity Web Media on a client project. Not only was the team professional and their work spot on, they were amazingly quick to respond and required very little hand-holding along the way. I chalk that up to their past experience and a deep understanding of best-in-class services.

What our clients say…

I have hired Greg and the Trinity team multiple times for work on my own websites, and have also hired them to work on behalf of multiple clients. He is simply a pleasure to work with, in every respect. Smart but without the giant ego of some developers, Trinity Web Media works with his clients to achieve their vision in the best way possible — with careful attention to their interests, and thoughtful recommendations based on his expertise. • Susan Baier – Founding Marketing Strategist – Audience Audit
