WordPress Tools We Use To Build Sites: Development

Let’s discuss the Development based WordPress Tools Trinity Web Media uses for web design and WordPress Development are the super heroes of our world. Of course, knowledge, skill, talent, being marketing professionals and training have a lot to do with every project, but without these tools things would be much harder (and more expensive.) Today, I will share the main tools we use for every site we build. This post is designed to help the the DIY WordPress person or small business website designer and help them level the playing field.

WordPress Tools

WordPress Tools That Make All The Difference In The World

• WordPress: WordPress without saying is The Real MVP of this galaxy. When we speak about WordPress in this article, or really any article on this site, we are referring to WordPress downloaded from WordPress.org and self-hosted. This is the engine that makes all things go.

• Liquid Web: Trinity Web Media relies on Liquid Web to host our web development environment. The price point is slightly higher than others, but you get what you pay for and this is no exception.

• GitHub: This tool was one we introduced to our workflow after an incident left me without all of my most recent work. GitHub is a cloud-based platform where we store all our work in a controlled revisioned environment. GIT is also a great place of development collaboration.

• Coda: Coda is a powerful text editor where we write and edit all WordPress theme code. This tool also acts as an interface via FTP to your hosting server and GitHub. Coda allows you to edit code in a controlled environment before “pushing it” and uploading it to your server. This eliminates all need to Cowboy Code your site. [PRO-TIP: Never Cowboy Code.]

If you are trying to get your site off the ground and perform some DIY WordPress development, start with these tools. Like anything there is a learning code, but once the process is down you will love it. (Or at least love the safety net they provide to your process.]
