Being a Good Team Member

May 30, 2019 by Kevin Eberle

Being a Good Team Member

As you may know, Trinity Web Media is a highly collaborative company that strives to work with others as much as possible. Many things go into being a truly collaborative partner & a good team member in the digital marketing world..

As a team, it’s essential to play your specific role in order to keep things running. Everyone needs to work together but also within their roles. Also, giving/taking feedback is an important aspect of being a productive team member.

Let’s talk more about collaborating and being a good team member on today’s Trinity Web Minute.

[Transcipt]

Hey, everyone, thanks for checking out another bonus episode of the new Marketing Show watching this on Instagram, TV, YouTube, on our website, wherever you’re getting this content, we appreciate you. So today let’s talk about collaboration and being a good team member when working within a team. So we talk a lot about collaboration and Trinity Web Media is a highly collaborative company. But there are certain things that you have to do in order to become and to be a really good team member.

One of the things to do is make sure that whenever somebody gives you feedback that you’re open to it, you know, sometimes this is tough, and it’s hard sometimes not to get defensive about things. But listen, if everybody is working for the greater good of the project, and within the team concept, you know, be open to it. Feedback should be given in a constructive manner, no attacking, etc, etc.

The other thing is to have clear lines and clear defined roles as to what you’re doing whenever you’re collaborating, and coming in as maybe a sub-contractor or working, you know, through an agency partner or anything like that. So we do a lot of work with other marketing agencies, other web development companies, and one of the things that I always ask is, okay, Trinity Web Media offers service, ABC and D. How does this overlap with what you are currently doing for the client? The last thing you want to do is step on any toes, have any hurt feelings, and then have overlap, which ultimately causes confusion for the client. And it makes it look like nobody’s on the same page.

So in order to be breed trust in order to breed true, true collaborative nature, what you want to do is understand who is running in which lane. It’s important to stay in your own lane, unless you have a previous conversation, or you’re called in to do something else, super important to understand what your role is, what you are contracted to do, where to give your input, when to keep your mouth shut, very important, but also, to stay in your own lane and understand and respect everybody else’s expertise.

You know, I found throughout my marketing career, my web development career, that if you stay in your own lane, and you respect everybody else’s expertise, more times than not, and I’m talking like 99% of the time, they will respect your expertise and call you in. Not only does it make for a good team member, it leads to more collaboration, more projects, and again, growth for everybody. So thanks for checking us out. What our clients say…

Jay Baer

If you need to take your web/digital program to the next level, these are the guys to see. Fast, honest, innovative and totally on top of it. Highly recommended! • Jay Baer – NY Times Best-selling Author, Founder/President – Convince and Convert

What our clients say…

While I’ve known Greg for years from our time together in the marketing scene, I’ve only recently had the chance to work with Trinity Web Media on a client project. Not only was the team professional and their work spot on, they were amazingly quick to respond and required very little hand-holding along the way. I chalk that up to their past experience and a deep understanding of best-in-class services.

What our clients say…

I have hired Greg and the Trinity team multiple times for work on my own websites, and have also hired them to work on behalf of multiple clients. He is simply a pleasure to work with, in every respect. Smart but without the giant ego of some developers, Trinity Web Media works with his clients to achieve their vision in the best way possible — with careful attention to their interests, and thoughtful recommendations based on his expertise. • Susan Baier – Founding Marketing Strategist – Audience Audit
