Planning for Holiday Specials

November 25, 2019 by Kevin Eberle

Planning for Holiday Specials

As the Holiday season approaches quickly, we can’t stress enough how important having a plan in place is. Black Friday, Giving Tuesday, or whatever other special you have in mind, all require a solid strategy. We have been working & planning for Holiday specials with several brands to make sure they are 100% ready to take on the crowds.

You may have noticed the trending hashtag #BotoxFail, which gave us some inspiration for this video. Botox manufacturers, Allergan, planned to have an exclusive sale for National Botox Day, but what happened? They failed to plan. Due to a server failure, potential customers were locked out of the site for the entire day. This resulted in a frenzy throughout the plastic surgery world.

Don’t be like Allergan; make sure you begin planning for Holiday specials before it’s too late.

Hey everyone, Greg Taylor from Trinity web media. Thanks for tuning in to another bonus episode of the new market show. catch us on YouTube, Instagram TV, wherever you getting this content. We appreciate you. Today I want to talk about going into the holiday season. And when you’re running client specials, especially now we’re getting the stuff where we’re talking about Giving Tuesday, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, holy shit deal Tuesday, whatever is coming up. What kind of plan do you have in place if something goes wrong?

So, so many times, all we do is we focus on the strategy. We focus on executing that strategy. And we focus on what the goals are. That’s all well and good. That is awesome. But do we ever have a contingency plan if something goes wrong? You know this week was national Botox day and our again was running a huge special for Botox for clinicians to offer to their But what happened? The site went down and nobody could check out it was a fiber for gateway error. They’re blaming on too much server traffic. I’m blaming it on a bad server and a bad plan.

So let’s learn from this mistake. You can check out the goat the hashtag on Instagram, Twitter, hashtag Botox fail. And let’s learn from this. So do you have a contingency plan in place? What happens if your server goes down? What happens if your pages go to a forum for what happens if you have misspellings or bad information for any of your stuff? You know what? planning to fail are failing to plan is planning to fail and what’s got that rock? Listen with everything that we do. And you know me, I believe in the velocity idea, I believe in getting an idea running fast and putting it out there. But once it’s at that 80% stage at 90% stage, it’s time to sit down and say okay, now Let’s poke some holes in this.

And if you have somebody on your team who’s kind of like, always the devil’s advocate or maybe sometimes we call them the Debbie Downer or whatever, any project the naysayer, put it to them, because they’re going to say, Well, what happens if what happens if what happens if, and then what’s going to happen is you’re going to figure out, Okay, these are some things we need to think about. This is a backup server, maybe we need to deploy, maybe we need to make sure that you know, run some testing of our payment gateways, make sure that our pop ups work and make sure that all of our specials are in order.

Make sure you have your house in order, especially before you Invite Everybody over to see everything and to make sure that you’re just everything is in line.

You know, I can’t stress enough You know, I’m sort of last words thinking about the situation, but I can’t stress enough how important it really is to have everything dialed in and a foolproof plan. Do you have a team What team is going to go into action? If something goes down and something goes bad? Can you count on that team? I mean, there’s all these things.

So take a lesson from Allah, Oregon and their fail. And don’t let this happen to you. Hey, thanks for checking us out. What our clients say…

While I’ve known Greg for years from our time together in the marketing scene, I’ve only recently had the chance to work with Trinity Web Media on a client project. Not only was the team professional and their work spot on, they were amazingly quick to respond and required very little hand-holding along the way. I chalk that up to their past experience and a deep understanding of best-in-class services.

What our clients say…

I have hired Greg and the Trinity team multiple times for work on my own websites, and have also hired them to work on behalf of multiple clients. He is simply a pleasure to work with, in every respect. Smart but without the giant ego of some developers, Trinity Web Media works with his clients to achieve their vision in the best way possible — with careful attention to their interests, and thoughtful recommendations based on his expertise. • Susan Baier – Founding Marketing Strategist – Audience Audit
