WordPress Project Management is usually a hot topic at WordCamps and among the WordPress Development Community. If you read our previous blog post about My Favorite WordPress Project Tool or listened to The New Marketing Show’s recent episode about Keeping Digital Marketing and Web Development Simple it will come as no surprise to you the Trinity Web Media has its simplistic project management system.
Five Stages of WordPress Project Management
-
• Kickoff Meeting / Wireframe Stage:Everything we do starts with a goal-oriented conversation. We kickoff every WordPress (or Digital Marketing) project with a call or preferably an in person meeting. From there, we leave the meeting with a clear direction for the project. All goals, challenges, functionality and other potential obstacles are discussed.
Once we leave this meeting we begin the wireframes. The Trinity Web Media wireframing process is simple, archaic and old fashioned — but works perfectly. After our wireframes are complete, branded and delivered to the client Trinity Web Media follows up with a conversation and a meeting about the deliverable. Only after we start the project on the same page we begin development of the site.
• 60% Development Meeting: If the wireframe is the blueprint from which we work towards, the 60% review is essentially a wireframe of your site on a development server. An internal and a client review at the 60% phase ensures we are moving in the right direction and all assumptions and ideas will actually work well for the WordPress site.
• 80% Development Review: Most of the functional development occurs between 60% to 80% or the project. In this phase, the Trinity Web Media WordPress team creates all the web functionality and optimizes all content. Our goal for the 80% review meeting is for our clients to review a nearly completed project.
• Final Review / Launch: Now, the good part starts to happen. After we discuss the 80% phase, Trinity Web Media quickly moves to a Final Review. We collect all thoughts, changes and ideas from the 80% meeting and incorporate them into the final phase. From here, our client does one last review with the site at 95% and then we launch. Yes, we launch at 95%.
Post-Launch, The Trinity Web Media Team pays close attention to the data and analytics of the new WordPress site. After a pre-determined time, usually 45 days, both parties engage in a debrief meeting. During the debrief meeting we see where we can bridge any gaps and fix any disconnects along the way and take the final product to 100%.
While this process seems odd, or different than the norm — it is one that over time we live by. The Trinity Web Media WordPress Project Management Process allows for collaboration, iteration and provides the best product for all parties. Give it a try, I have a feeling your team will benefit.
